With three potential one seeds in the ACC its hard to find confidence a future bet. One thing is sure, you should not be taking Duke (+185), Virginia (+120), or North Carolina (+360) at their current price point. You would be better-suited betting any of these teams money line and then roll over the winnings onto the next game. The past three years each of these teams has won the ACC tournament.
With that said, there are three long shots who hold serious value. Flordia State (17-1), Louisville (35-1), and Syracuse (85-1).
Flordia State 17-1
Flordia State enters the tournament hot as can be. They are 11-1 in their last twelve. They are winless in their games against Duke, Virginia, and UNC this season. However, that alone doesn’t tell the full story. They played at Virginia and UNC this season where both of those teams are undefeated in conference play and lost to a Zion Williamson lead team on a last second buzzer beater in Tallahassee. On a neutral court, there is no telling as to what could happen. With 17-1 odds you can’t go wrong betting on the #12 team in the country to win their conference tournament.
Louisville 35-1
When Louisville lost to Duke after leading by 16 with six minutes left I called for them to be deplored. Watching the last minutes of that game, there was no alpha in the team. No one wanted the ball in their hands. They were passing it back and forth, no one crashing the boards or trying to get into the paint. It was pathetic, and as a result, they lost that game. After that abominable loss, they went 2-4 to finish the season, which led to their undervalued odds entering the tournament. Lead by offensive weapons Jordan Nwora and Christen Cunningham, Louisville has the star power to make a deep push in the ACC tournament. As a long shot with 35-1 odds, the value here is indisputable and worth some thought.
Syracuse 85-1
Syracuse is a tough sell here. Their offense has been a mess this season and continues to disappear late in games. In the first half of their last three games with Duke, Virginia, and UNC they were leading going into the half. Before losing by an average of 18 points in the second half. I am not going to tell you the Orange is going to solve their scoring problems going in the tournament, but one thing that is sure to travel is the Jim Boeheim zone. The same zone that seems to get them past the first round of the NCAA tournament every year. Syracuse will play either Boston College or Pitt in the first round, followed by Duke. No matter if Zion plays or not that doesn’t fix Dukes horrible 3-point shooting. We have seen Duke struggle twice this year against the zone. If the Orange can make it through the first two round, with 85-1 odds that ticket would have serious value in the secondary market if you’re willing to part with it.
